On his rapid rise to the top of the rap game, the Queens rapper TheCasinoLife comes around with the release of "For Better Or Worse", his latest mixtape, which will be available for download at the common platforms on 2018-11-30.
We took the chance to do a short interview with him to learn more about the motivation behind doing the record and the creation process of "For Better Or Worse".
NuEraMixtapes: Thanks for taking the time to do this interview with us. You said it took you 6 years months in total to record "For Better Or Worse". What was the motivation behind it?
TheCasinoLife: The last 6 years of my life went into making this project. I was going through a rough time from relationships, legal issues, and the unusual reoccurrence of people around me passing away. The title 'For Better Or Worse' has two meanings. One being my engagement to Hip Hop. My bond with the culture is a marriage, through sickness and health, for better or worse. The second meaning comes from me detailing everything that I have experienced in the past couple years, all the good and all the bad.
NuEraMixtapes: You described your release as Transparent with bold lyrics, your rap style is slightly comparable with Tupac Shakur, Nas's sound. What makes you unique and how do you set yourself apart from other aspiring artists?
TheCasinoLife: I read constantly. I'm always looking to expand my vocabulary and find new ways to say things. If your favorite has a fire line in his song, I want to find a way to top it. Even if we're saying the same thing. I wanna challenge myself to be the most witty and clever lyricist.
Knowing that all the pain and suffering was worth it. Did the end justify the means?
What obstacles have you faced and overcome in the music industry so far?
TheCasinoLife: Honestly just trying to find a balance in my fan base. I'm at a point in my life where sometimes I feel too old & some days I feel too young. Im just trying to walk the fine line in between both demographics.
